BE PART OF WIRRAL'S BOROUGH OF CULTURE YEAR
I hope you are all aware by now that Wirral is the Borough of Culture for the Liverpool City Region in 2019. This is a relatively new initiative where the spotlight will be put on a different borough of the region each year highlighting existing and new cultural events. St Helens was the first borough in 2018 to lead the way and this year is Wirral's turn.
I am delighted by the amazing programme of events, many of which are new, that are planned for 2019 some of which are listed below - and how amazing it is that Tour of Britain cycle race have also chosen Wirral to be involved in their internationally renowned race.
2019 gives us a real opportunity to showcase Wirral to visitors and put this wonderful place on the map.
There will be many ways that those businesses and organisations involved in offering services and facilities to visitors can get involved and a meeting will be arranged in early March when more of the practical and operational details can be shared which I urge you to attend.
Lorna Tyson,
Chair of Wirral Visitor Economy Network
The first event is 'Animated Square' in Hamilton Square on Saturday 23rd March, for more information see here.
